Press Statement by DAP Penang Publicity Secretary Ng Wei Aik on 24-07-09 (Friday) in Georgetown, Penang.

With the introduction of online polling last week to receive public opinions on Kampung Buah Pala issue, DAP Penang has introduced a second poll today to allow the public especially Penangites to express their stance on Kampung Buah Pala.

The question for this week’s poll is as follow:

Do you agree that the Federal Government should intervene to help Kampung Buah Pala residents considering that Federal Court’s judgment ruled in favour of the developer?

Visitors can respond to the online poll through DAP Penang website http://dappg.org.

DAP Penang’s online polls are intended to allow the people to understand the questions facing the Penang State Government on the issue of Kampung Buah Pala. It is also to provide the opportunity for the people to be participate indirectly in the decision-making process of the State Government on this issue.

Although a second question has been uploaded, visitors can still participate in the first question which will also be available on the DAP Penang website. The first question was:

Do you agree that the State Government acquire the Kampung Buah Pala land even if it costs more than RM100,000,000.00 (Ringgit Malaysia One Hundred Million)?

As of 1.30pm on 24-07-09, a total of 829 individuals have participated in the first poll. The result showed that 729 people or 88% of the poll participants were against the State Government spending more than RM100 million to acquire the Kampung Buah Pala land while the other 12% agreed that the State Government should acquire the land.
